statement by Lucien Masmejan, Alinghi legal counsel:
"We are disappointed that Emirates Team New Zealand
initiates legal action after the competition previously been publicly acknowledged and this had known.
These actions are completely unjustified, shoot far past the target and we will defend ourselves with all means available. Like the rest of the sailing community, we are frustrated by the delays, which hinder the America's Cup but Alinghi must defend its position as trustee in the current dispute and preserve the integrity of the America's Cup.
We have repeatedly made it clear that Alinghi a speedy resolution of the dispute would welcome and wants to see the activities as soon as possible to shift back on the water. "
