brethren [brothers] Grimm

The Queen Bee

Two kings' sons once went on an adventure
and fell in a wild, reckless Life
so that they never came home again.
The youngest, who was called simpleton,
arose and sought his brothers
but how he finally found, they mocked him,
wanted him with his simplicity through the world,
they two can not get through could were so much wiser.
They all three came away together, and to an anthill. The two oldest
wanted to see him stir and
the little ants in the fear creeping about
forttrügen and their eggs, but said the Simpleton,
"Leave the creatures alone, I will not suffer that disturbs them."
Then she went on and came to a lake,
swam on the many many ducks.
The two brothers wanted to catch a couple and roast, but did
Simpleton it, and said,
"Leave the creatures alone, I will not suffer, that kills them." At last they came
to a bee nest, it was so much honey
that he ran down the trunk.
The two wanted a fire beneath the tree and suffocate the bees, so they
could get at the honey.
The Simpleton but she held off again and said,
"Leave the creatures alone, I will not suffer that burns them."
came last the three brothers in a castle,
where the horses stood stone stables many,
was to see no one, and they went through all the halls,
until they came to a door at the end, with three locks;
it was in the middle of the door a little pane ,
they could look into the room. Since they
saw a gray man sitting at a table.
They called out once, twice, but it did not:
finally they called for the third time, stood on it,
opened the locks, and came out.
It spoke not a word, but led her to a richly spread table,
eaten and drunk and when she did, he took each of
in his own bedroom. could be waved
The next morning came the little gray man at the earliest,
and guided him to a stone table, on which were inscribed three tasks
,
redeemed which the castle.
The first was in the forest, beneath the moss
pearl were the king's daughter, a thousand had in number,
which are visited,
and if missing before sunset one single,
so was the one who had sought to stone .
went to the oldest, and searched all day,
as the day was over, he had only found one hundred
happened as the panel was, he was changed into stone. The next
es ging ihm aber nicht viel besser als dem ältesten;
tried and the mouth of all three;
least they remained sitting on the mouth, the honey had eaten
and so recognized the right of the king's son. Then the spell
was over, all was redeemed from sleep
and who was of stone, regained his human form.
Simpleton married the youngest and dearest
and became king after her father's death, his two brothers
but got the other two sisters.
